Title: Genesis 16 Section: Hagar and Ishmael Search Description (Genesis16)

Genesis 16 tells the story of Sarai (later Sarah) and Abram (later Abraham) struggling with God's promise of a child. Sarai, who is barren, gives her Egyptian maidservant, Hagar, to Abram as a wife to bear a child on her behalf. Hagar conceives, but tension arises when Hagar begins to despise Sarai. Sarai mistreats Hagar, causing her to flee into the wilderness.

An angel of the Lord finds Hagar, comforts her and instructs her to return to Sarai, promising that her descendants will be too numerous to count. The angel also foretells the birth of her son, Ishmael, describing him as a "wild donkey of a man" who will live in conflict with others. Hagar obeys, returns, and gives birth to Ishmael when Abram is 86 years old.

This chapter highlights themes of human impatience, God's faithfulness, and His care for the marginalized.
